We are a small business creating bespoke gifts in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. We are a husband and wife team who met at Simon Fraser University while studying Mechatronics Engineering. We had always wanted to work on a project together, but wasn’t quite sure what.
On many dates, we found ourselves visiting neighborhood craft fairs and farmer’s markets, admiring all the works of art from local creatives. Irene was especially inspired by the creative process and Lamont loved understanding all the other parts of running a small business.
After much deliberation, we decided to buy a laser cutter in 2021 and Charred Designs were born. After making all our Christmas presents that year and seeing our gifts spark joy with friends and family, we decided to take orders and open up an Etsy shop.
In 2022, we took another leap and dove right into the craft fair scene, signing up as a vendor in 3 different Christmas craft fairs with our friends at @justadd604. It was an extremely stressful time, but we learned a lot and loved being a part of the local creator community.

Our Inspiration
Living in Vancouver, we are inspired by the beauty of nature. One of our favourite pastimes is venturing into the local mountains and exploring nearby hiking trails.
We also feel that joy is all around us every day, in the mundane and small slice of life moments. The morning aroma of coffee, the sound of rain tapping against the window, the comfort of a warm blanket at night. We want to ignite joy even in the seemingly ordinary.
Our Purpose
We want to leave the world a better place.
Our way of doing that with Charred Designs is sparking joy in people’s lives through our creations. Our mission is to bring our customers happiness through bespoke gifts that can be treasured for years.
